Why did you go into your chosen field?

When I was in high school, I was exceptionally good at art and math. While looking at those two subjects one day, I filled out one of those guidance counselor surveys. Architecture was where the paths merged and I never looked back. I gained interest in design and saw a purpose in building.

What gives you motivation to progress your design career?

The power of shaping the world around me, influencing ideas that lead to change, and introducing design to kids are what motivate me to keep going. Design can take the shape of what ever you can it to, which is what makes it so powerful and vital to teach to our youth.

What is your most meaningful project, and why?

I look at this a little differently; perhaps because “my” built projects are retail and hospitality based. While they do provide a significant service for the communities in which we build, the meaningfulness for me is in number of people younger than me that I discuss design with. My meaningful projects are making their way through design school, high school, and even elementary school. As I said before, I find motivation in educating the youth and if I am lucky, making a significant change in their lives.
